transformation = completed.

the thing that made we want to do this was this thread in the main BM tribe:
sanfrancisco.tribe.net/thread...7db8225

It made me realize that our evap pond this year was fucking pitiful. the "swamp cooler' idea, or this one which the creator claims could get rid of 5 gallons of gray water daily:

This is the kind of shit we should be doing.

    So is this tribe only about camp related stuff? Or are we discussing art cars and other shit here too?

      I'm not the official leader here but in light of the slow response the this post I'll just assume authority and issue an edit.

      This tribe is for engineering in all it's forms as it pertains to life on the playa.

      Of course I say this as I am motivated by my own selfish interest as I have art plans which I know will need some engineering consulation in the future and I want a forum to post my questions to.

        I think this is accurate. Anything engineering and BM related is fair game. camp, art car or otherwise.

        What have you got planned Danger Girl?

        I myself am in the planning stages of building a tiki bar art car. I know the bar car has been done to death. But I'm coming at it from a different angle. Instead of building a machine designed to get me laid and a lot of people drunk, my intent is a small bar that seats only two passengers. For me the point is to create something that will help me overcome my introversion and spend more time getting to know people on a one on one basis.

          that sounds like it ought to get you laid just fine. pick a cute playa bunny, offer her a romantic ride for two along the esplanade, hand her a tasty beverage... :)

            If it's necessary that you have to design a contraption to get you laid at BM then are you are already doing something wrong.

              Indeed... For me, Burning Man isn't about getting laid. If I were out to get laid, I'd join in with an SM camp(might just happen anyway), and do rope bondage till my fingers can't tie knots anymore. I go to expose myself to new lines of thought and different ways of living. I live in Salt Lake City, a place that isn't renown for having a lot of diversity. So I jump at any chance I get to meet people with other points of view. And some of the most interesting and profound conversations I've ever had happened on the playa.

              But anyway, this tribe isn't about why, it's about how. And you guys might just dig this. I have a line on a rickshaw engine and transmission for my art car. It's a two cylinder, turbo charged, water cooled, all aluminum engine. It's also looking like I can get a golf cart minus the drive train. The plan is to use the front end of the golf cart with a custom fabbed single wheel motorcycleish rear end. There will be a platform above the front that the bar is built on with a slurpee machine and small freezer mounted under the bar. The chairs will be mounted to the platform so people can ride on them while I drive. Whaddya think about seat belts?

              I'm still not sure if I'm gonna power the whole thing 12v and put in extra batteries or if I'll bolt on a small generator. It'll probably come down to what I can afford/scrounge.

                While I'm sure your intent is friendly, how do you reckon you'll be able to best put that across to people? Otherwise they might think that you're trying to get them alone and give them a forced enema!
